Dominique Blais participates in the group show called I’ve got a feeling, les 5 sens dans l’art contemporain organized by the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Angers in France on view from May 26, 2023 to January 7, 2024.
In response to the past pandemic that affected all humanity, this immersive exhibition proposes a rediscovery of our senses through the medium of art. After having been deprived of smell, taste and touch during the pandemic period, our body is asking to reconnect to our senses, to our feelings, to life itself. The 5 senses (taste, smell, hearing, touch, sight) are indeed the most instinctive bodily tools in the relationship to our environment.
For this exhibition, Dominique Blais presents Empyrée, a series of four “pictures” created with the use of mosaic tiles made of plastic reflective material entering into a falsely contradictory logic of a positive and a negative image. Empyrée is radiant, even spectacular, and is made through a juxtaposition of multiple parts of a puzzle in a way of a Bach’s fugue, inviting the spectator to go up towards the “empyrean”, heavenly skies where poets find inspiration.
