The Xippas gallery has the honor of presenting its collaboration with Polígrafa, one of the most important and historical publishing galleries in Barcelona, which is presenting its works for the first time in Punta del Este.
Founded in the 1960s by Manual de Muga, Polígrafa has already edited more than 300 artists, including a vast list of important names represented by our gallery. Among them, we can mention artists such as James Siena, Peter Halley, José Manuel Broto, Marco Maggi, Pablo Reinoso, Saint Clair Cemin…
For this first occasion, a selection of works will be exhibited, including works by Leon Ferrari, Jorge Macchi, Antoni Tàpies, and Luis Tomaselo.
This is a unique opportunity to get to know first-hand the high-quality work that this publishing house produces, which, from its outstanding career, remains in force to this day under the direction of José Aloy.
Polígrafa currently continues to develop new projects, to which renowned contemporary artists are invited. The selection of artists is carried out with great rigor. The work dynamics normally includes a passage of the artists through the workshop to work the plates that are later tested by the Polygraph professionals. Once the artist gives his approval «Bon à tirer», or better known as «B.A.T», the prints are made to be finally signed.
In this way, Polígrafa has achieved a work methodology that allows it to be a benchmark in the production of graphic editions, and attend the main art fairs in the world, including Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, Arco Madrid, and Art Basel Hong Kong since its first editions.
