Céleste Boursier-Mougenot’s Prototype pour scanner (2006) takes center stage in the opening room of the Même les soleils sont ivres exhibition at the Collection Lambert in Avignon. In this immersive sound installation, a fan propels a wireless microphone-equipped balloon through space, generating unpredictable feedback loops captured by eight ceiling-mounted speakers. The resulting sonic landscape is continuously processed and reshaped in real-time, producing an ever-evolving composition. As the balloon drifts and reacts to its environment, visitors themselves become part of the performance, influencing both the movement of the object and the sounds it produces. Surrounding the installation, the walls feature verses from Roger Gilbert-Lecomte’s L’incantation perpétuelle, further deepening the immersive and atmospheric experience.
Presented as part of Avignon Terre de Culture 2025, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Avignon as European Capital of Culture, Même les soleils sont ivres, subtitled Histoires de vent, runs until May 25, 2025. The exhibition explores the profound connection between humans and the landscapes they inhabit—an interaction shaped, disrupted, and transformed by the omnipresence of wind. Curated by a collective of voices from the Collection Lambert, Même les soleils sont ivres offers a compelling and immersive experience that invites reflection on the interplay between nature, art, and perception.
