Where wine is at home all year round, art makes an appearance once a year: for one weekend, press houses and cellar tubes are transformed into galleries in the Kellergasse in Haugsdorf, a picturesque square serves as a stage for writers and concerts take place under a starry sky.
At the KUNST&WEIN festival in Haugsdorf, everything takes place above and below ground in the Große Kellertrift: Exhibitions, readings by renowned authors, evenings of music ranging from pop to jazz to down-to-earth. The wine cellars are the backdrop for the cultural festival, which has been filling the Kellertrift with life at the end of August for more than 20 years and for which artists such as Hermann Nitsch and Peter Turrini have been invited. In addition to the art, the wine from Haugsdorf’s winegrowers plays the leading role.
Tastings, wine talks and culinary delights, everything revolves around wines from Haugsdorf vineyards. Also at Kunst&Wein: a program for children, street artists, a bookshop in the cellar and various culinary stations.
