Stephan Goldrajch invites us into a world where folklore and contemporary art intertwine. As part of Mascara·des !, the new group exhibition at the Fondation du Doute, he presents the Odori costume, used during his performances in Japan, as well as an installation based on one of the watercolors from the Yokaï series which explores the enigmatic spirits of Japanese mythology. Through intricate textile work, Goldrajch reinterprets these supernatural beings, blending tradition with his unique visual language.
Opening on February 7, Mascara·des ! brings together six artists who use performance and transformation to challenge the notion of identity. Goldrajch’s work resonates deeply with this theme, offering a glimpse into his upcoming solo exhibition, Yōkai, les esprits japonais, opening at Xippas Paris on March 15. There, he will further expand his research into these spectral figures, weaving together his signature craft techniques and storytelling.
