Sigismond de Vajay has developed the installation Biocenosis since 2013. For the project presented at the 13th Mercosul Biennial, the artist collaborated with Kevin Lesquenner and LAPSo (Acoustics and Sound Perception Laboratory of National University of Quilmes). This is the fifth work in a series of landscapes seeking to raise environmental awareness through art, using classic codes of art history. With this immersive and interactive work, which represents a model of a flooded contemporary city, the artist discusses the fragility of the urban environment in its final stage of degradation. The artist aims to shed light on the critical environmental situation we are experiencing today.
